To this what can be done is that the USB can be blocked and then stopping the use of USB drives. Here is a simple registry hack to do so, try it with care.

1. Go to Start –> Run, type Regedit.

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlset\Services\USBStor

3. In the right pane, look for value Start and have value as 0000000(3)

4. Double click on that and change that value to 4.

You might be required to restart the PC, and then you are done with it, USB is now blocked.

In case if you want to get the USB unblocked, just change the value again to 3.
See, its so easy. Isn’t it

How to edit a (.PPS or .PPSX) PowerPoint Show file

PowerPoint Show file! Heard about that?
Yes, it is the file with a .pps extension that plays the PowerPoint slideshow. Since it runs the slideshow directly, you don't get the option of editing the file from the PowerPoint environment.

However, with a small tweak you can easily edit the content in the PowerPoint Show file.

1. Let's assume you have a powerpoint show named "Life.pps" which needs to be modified.

2. All you have to do is change(or rename) the extension of the file from .pps to .ppt.
(Note: To display the file extensions of file types, in Windows Explorer go to Tools >> Folder Options >> View and uncheck the "Hide file extensions of known file types" checkbox.)

3. So, "Life.pps" should be made "Life.ppt".

4. Clicking the "Life.ppt" file will open it in the PowerPoint environment and can be easily edited.

This tweak can also be applied the other way around when you want to make a PowerPoint Slideshow (.pps) from a PowerPoint presentation document (.ppt).

Here how you verify system uptime:

Step1: Click Start->Run and type cmd to open a command prompt. At the prompt, type systeminfo.

Step2: Scroll down the list of information to the line that says System Up Time.

This will tell you in days, hours, minutes and seconds how long the system has been up.

Note: This command only works in XP Professional not in XP Home. You can however type net statistics workstation at the prompt in Home. The first line will tell you the day and time that the system came online
